Thank you for the question! It is difficult to discern from the picture without knowing a background. An in person consultation would be most helpful as there could be a few things causing this. I recommend meeting with a board certified plastic surgeon to learn more on how we could help. For instance, a target treatment with Kybella to dissolve the fatty deposits might be an option. I wish you luck!
Excellent question. More often than not, these are due to lines, wrinkles and sagging skin. Dynamic lines can be addressed with neuromodulators such as Botox. Static lines can be treated with injectable hyaluronic acid fillers such as the Juvederm and Restylane family. Please see a specialist for an in person consultation and develop the best plan going forward. Best wishes.
This can be camouflaged with filler or liposuction can be used to slim the face. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer
Only on the basis of in person evaluation one can decide whether these are truly fat deposits. If so, conservative superficial liposuction with fine 1mm cannula may help. good luck.
Downtownchiic13. I see what you mean, and fatty deposits at that location on the face is very unusual. Have you had any sort of fat transfer to the face? Specific and targeted micro liposuction may be an answer, however a more detailed history and physical examination is needed. Come see me or another board-certified plastic surgeon in the area for a consultation to explore the best options for you. Good luck.
Thanks for the question and photos. These are not fat deposits although they look similar to ones. The skin in your cheek folds is becoming prominent in response to dynamic and static force at the side of your mouth. The temporary but effective treatment is to inject filler in front of the fold. Botulinum toxin in the muscle that depresses the corner of the mouth will also help correct the problem with no down time. Hope this helps.
Dear Downtownchic13,Hello and thank you for your excellent question. It is best to answer your question during a face-to-face evaluation, when you can discuss your goals and expectations for the procedure, and you can have a physical examination to evaluate for that procedure. I recommend that you find a board-certified, or board-eligible plastic surgeon with whom you are comfortable. Be sure to have all of your questions answered during a face-to-face meeting with your surgeon, and review before and after pictures of similar patients whom have had this procedure. If you have any questions, call our office for assistance. Good luck! Please direct this question to your plastic surgeon. Each surgeon has their own postoperative protocol to help predictable healing occur. It would not be appropriate to speculate what your surgeon would be comfortable with - just ask them. Congratulations on your procedure.
Three weeks after liposuction there is frequently swelling, tightness, and numbness. This should improve over 3 to 6 months. Ice in the first few days may help, but it has not been proven to help long term. Best to follow your PS's post-operative protocols.
Swelling will almost always go away with time. The problem with cortisone shots is that they definitely cause fat atrophy which is permanent!!! I have been a plastic surgeon and done many TT and Smartlipo cases etc and I have NEVER used cortisone shots to decrease swelling. your indents may imp...
