Areola dark 2 months post-op gyno surgery. Will this lighten up by itself? (photo)

Dear Polygon96,I understand your concern and it is quite normal to be concerned about the outcome following a gynecomastia surgery. However, you are still in the very early stages of the healing process.Your will need to be patient at this moment and follow what your surgeon has instructed you to do post operatively.At the early stage of the healing process, the tissues are still swollen. Once the swelling subsides  you will be able to see the final result of your surgery.Daniel Barrett, MD

It looks as though you have had and injury to the lower half of your left nipple. Its odd that this is presenting this late. Please follow up with your surgeon so that he/she can evaluate you and possibly start you on a wound care regimen.

From your photo, it appears that a segment of the areola superior to the incision site may have undergone a degree of vascular change leading to altered pigmentation / scar. It is still too early to ascertain its permanency. 
I would wait at least 12 months to allow complete healing before considering any type of revision (if revision is required).
If your plastic surgeon is not aware of this condition, you should schedule reevaluation. Otherwise, continue scheduled followup care with your plastic surgeon.
