Fillers for the nose: would you suggest Restylane or Juvederm for a more pronounced nasal profile?

Dear doctors, Lately, I've been considering using fillers for a more pronounced nasal profile. Please suggest if using fillers such as Restylane or Juvederm will create a broadened nose after multiple trials throughout the years. I've been seeing comments that these fillers will gradually widen your nose, since it is not completely solid and it will broaden your nose after multiple injections periodically. Thanks all! Hilary

Our practice, we specialize in the use of microdroplet Silikon-1000 for permanent nasal bridge raising. It needs to be performed cautiously, and most people require three treatments or more for a desired and permanent result. Treatment intervals are spaced at monthly intervals or longer. Yes, fillers can work well for certain deformities of the nose (ie low dorsum). They are temporary and can be expensive if done every year to maintain your result. Sometimes a rhinoplasty is better and more affordable long term. The nose can become wider if too much filler is injected giving it a bulbous appearance.

Minor defects of the bridge (dorsum), central nose and tip of the nose can be very precisely and quickly corrected with fillers.  Improved definition of the tip, and straightening of the dorsum may be achieved. This may also result in straighter, thinner appearing nose. Reduction of a prominent dorsum or tip requires surgery.
Various fillers are available Radiesse, Bellafill, autologous fat, Voluma and Lyft are options.  Depending on your expectations for longevity and budget (pricing between $500 and $1900) a product can be chosen to best fit your needs. Lyft, Restylane, Radiesse or Voluma will give more definition and noticeable results than Juvederm.
There are no fillers that have been tested in this area by the FDA and therefor are considered "off label use".
Please consult in person with an experienced Board Certified Plastic Surgeon prior to making treatment decisions.

Fillers in your nose will not necessarily widen your nose. It is difficult to assess your condition without any photos. Juvederm or Restylane will work fine for non surgical rhinoplasty. I would consult with a local facial plastic surgeon and discuss your case

I do not like fillers for your nose. They go away over time and the changes are temporary. They are expensive and can be more costly over time then the surgery to get your desired result.

HillaryThank you for your question. It is quite a good one. As a rhinoplasty specialist I also see many patients who can not fathom the idea of having surgery and therefore they seek non-surgical Rhinoplasty. If you see my instagram which is @drcangello you can see a few examples of the nice results that can be achieved with fillers such as juvederm and Restylane. I also like to use Restylane Lyft by the way. But I don't disagree that over time the nose really can end up widening which is why this is not the best long term solution. I have at least one patient that that has happened to, although he does not see it and therefore he continues to request that I use fillers to augment his dorsum. Because the fuller is not solid it just  sort of spreads through the tissues over time and that's  why the nose ends up looking bulkier and wider. So it may or may not be a good long term solution. You can certainly try it and see what you think. Hope this helps!
