Fat chin/mentalis muscle protrusion. What options are available? (Photo)

I have a protruding fatty chin that I would like to be smaller. It feels very soft but I’m not sure if it’s a big mentalis muscle or fat deposit. FYI I have never been overweight. What options are available for treatment of a chin like this? I am located in NYC.

Chin reduction can help with a large protruding chin 'Witch's chin'. This is usually an abundance of soft tissue which causes a bulge. The procedure involves making an incision below the chin, accessing the extra soft tissue and removing it while taking care to preserve the muscles. Along with this some skin is removed below the chin to have a pulling effect on the chin and leading to a smaller or less protruding chin.

I suggest you have a few in person consultations with local oral surgeons. Reducing the chin is a bit tricky and in your case reducing the forward projection with slight vertical augmentation would be ideal.

Typically this means addressing both bone and soft tissues.

Some plastic surgeons may feel comfortable doing these procedures but mandible surgery is more commonly done by oral surgeons.
