DHI hair transplant about 6 months ago and dont have great results. Does it have to do with wearing a hat every time I went out?

It can take 6 to 12 months after surgery to see results.  If you are concerned it is best to contact your doctor.  It probably has nothing to do with wearing hats.

Far too early to assess final results from your transplant.  I have my patients apply Rogaine starting the 3rd week post transplant to help accelerate the regrowth, and do find that PRP done at the same time as the procedure may also help shorten the time before regrowth (as well as reduce the risk of shock loss and accelerate healing).  Finally laser light therapy can be of some benefit.

Wearing a hat 1 month after surgery will not have had an effect upon your results. I would wait until 12 months to judge your results. 

The best results of transplanted hair come between 9-12 months of the surgery. In case, they are not upto the mark, you should wait for 18 months before doing the second procedure in the same area as some hair are slow to grow and show improvement upto 18 months post surgery.

You may have a failed HT nad need to a revision but dont forget that regrowing hair is thin, undersized and not bright untill 4-5 th months of hair transplant. İt's normal for new growing hair starting to get native characteristics, waviness, curl in first 4-5 months..This actually takes 10-13 months for hair to become full mature , as thick and bright  as native hair. 

Avoiding the sun would not keep grafts from growing.  It typically takes at least 8-12 months to see your final results, so you be patient and wait.

Thank you for your question. Wearing a hat had no impact on your results and getting sun exposure on your scalp is not the answer. It can take 12-18 months after a hair transplant procedure for all the grafts to grow back in after the shedding phase. You did not mention whether you are on hair preservation therapy such as finasteride (Propecia) and minoxidil (Rogaine). Hair preservation is critical to obtaining a good long term outcome. If you have concerns regarding your progress, I suggest following up with your hair transplant surgeon. We schedule all of our transplant patients to return 6 and 12 months after their procedure. The hat has no correlation really with your hair growth process. The results from a hair transplant take time and even more so on some patients. Keep in mind that you will see regrowth up to 18 months post op.Just be patient and consult your physician if you have any questions / concerns.

Don't judge the final results until at least 8 months when you can generally expect 80% of the growth in 8 months
