Botox to correct my chin pebbles and injected into my Masseter Muscle? Costs and How often? (photo)

I live in Manhattan and I am looking to have Botox in the next month or so to correct my chin pebbles and injected into my Masseter muscle to achieve a more feminine jawline. How often would I have to get it for it to stay? I'm assuming every 6 months. And how much would it cost for both? I do know not many do the Masseter muscle Botox)

​Treatment for chin dimpling ("pebble chin" or "orange peel") is Botox injected into the mentalis muscle. This typically gives great improvement to the appearance of the chin. It  is important to remember that each face is different and everyone's  body reacts differently to the Botox injections. You would have to go in  for a consultation to be accurately assessed. For the Botox to smooth the chin,  usually people will come every 3 months. This typically requires 6 to 8  units in the mentalis/chin muscle. Again, some people come in at five  months, some will come back in three and a half months. It's about what  works best for you and your body. For the masseter muscle, you may be  able to get away with coming in less frequently. Most patients receive  any where between 15 to 30 units per side. Over time, the muscle will shrink and you will be able to get away with coming in less and less.
The cost range will vary depending on how many units you need but likely around $600 to $800.

Generally, 4-8 units of Botox can be used in the chin to smooth the wrinkles cause by the mentalis muscle. Also, he marionette lines that pull down the corner of the mouth (formed by the depressor anguli oris muscles) can be relaxed with a similar but distinct injection.  Botox or Dysport work best with filler when treating the marionette lines. The masseter muscles at the angles of the jaw can make a female jaw look masculine. Generally 20-30 units of Botox is used on each side. Equivalent doses of Dysport can also be used. Many patients feel that Dysport lasts longer than Botox. Most experienced injectors will be familiar with these techniques. Good luck.

You will need approximately 8-10 units of Botox for your chin dimpling and 25-30 units of Botox for each masseter muscle injection.  You do not want to over inject either area.  The injections will need to be repeated every 4 months and the cost of injections will depend upon the cost per unit charged for Botox.  Having said that, the photos that you have provided of the chin injection patient and the jaw reduction patient are very misleading.  Botox alone will not alter the appearance of your jawline to that significant of a degree and although Botox will stop the chin dimpling at rest and with slight motion, in those photos the pre injection photo is in full motion and the post injection photo is at rest.

best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation.  I frequently perform botox injections into the masseter for this indication.  It is very effective in the right patients and should be performed every 4-6 months.   The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are
comfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified

Kittenbear  thank you for your questions.  While cost is important , skill and results are paramount.  Just because someone has scissors, does not mean you will like the way they cut your hair :)! That stated, Botox can run from  $8 - 22/ unit.  In the chin to relax the mentalis you may need as few as 5 units to as much as 15; to rleax the  masseter  can range from 10 - 30 units per side. speak with friends about their results. Dear Kitten, Thank you for posting your interesting question. Botox is very effective smoothing out "chin pebbles" and reducing your masseter muscle enlargement or hypertrophy. Botox injections into the Masseter muscles converts a square and more masculine face into a more triangular feminine face. It usually requires 20-25 units for each per side and lasts for several months. It takes about 10-14 days for the Botox to reduce the Masseter muscles and it has minimal to no downtime. The cost depends on the number of units required and the experience of the injector. Thank you for your question. In our practice we treat both the masseter and the mentalis with Botox. It is important to note that we often start with lower doses than you may ultimately need to see how you tolerate and feel with the botox in these regions. We typically do 20 units on each masseter and about 4 - 8 units in the mentalis at least initially. Unfortunately we have not seen durations as long as 6 months but typically every 4 months   .
