Any bruising after Botox?

Question

I had 20 units injected into glabella area yesterday and the injection sites are subtle red pin pricks. The on in the middle of my forehead is red, raised and prominent. When can I expect that the bruising will remit?

There can be some bruising and/or swelling after Botox injections and should resolve in 1-2 weeks. If bruising is extensive, it can be treated with VBeam laser, cold compresses and arnica to help improve. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Thanks for the question! these marks are entirely normal puncture marks in the skin and should settle in the next few days. You probably would have noticed by now if there was going to be any bruising.

Thank you for your question! With Botox there is always a risk of hitting the blood vessel. Usually red and raised bruises appear, and most frequently they migrate down with gravity. This should resolve within 2 weeks. You can contact your provider and request treatment as well. Best of luck!

There’s always a chance of having a visible pin prick at the BOTOX® injection site. Any redness or irritation should resolve within 24 to 48 hours. If you actually have a bruise, then it should take about a week to resolve. A cold compress or ibuprofen may help to alleviate any inflammation and expedite the healing. Be sure to always work with an experienced, licensed BOTOX® injector for best results.

Any time a needle goes into the skin, a blood vessel can be hit/pierced, and a bruise result. That said, Botox is injected with a very fine needle and with no tension, and thus if a bruise occurs (not that often), its typically a small purple dot that goes away on its own in a few days. Your dermatologist's office can do laser on the bruise to hasten resolution.

Bruising may occur with Botox injections, specially around the eyes.  It should get better each day and depending on the size of the bruise it may take days for it to resolve.

Anytime you have a injection there is always a risk of bruising.  Red pin pricks usually resolve in 24-48 hours, however, if you have a dark purple bruise then expect it to resolve over about 7-10 days, depending on the severity.

Any type of injection where the skin is broken can cause bruising. There are ways to minimize it, but it's very difficult to eliminate the risk 100%. Application of ice beforehand and gentle pressure afterwards can help.

If you only have red injection marks, these can disappear in a matter of 1-2 days. Actual bruising could take at least a week.
