What cosmetic procedures are safe while breastfeeding? I would love to have Botox and fillers but I've seen that they are not recommended. I really need something to address my wrinkles and volume loss. Thank you.
Answer: What cosmetic procedures for wrinkles and volume loss are safe while breastfeeding? Although it is extremely likely you could have all surface fillers, injectables including Botox, and even laser or RF Microneedling all of the treatments and warnings on any injectables will have the warning “ use of this product during breastfeeding is not recommended”Therefore my recommendation is to wait until after you stop Brest to have anything done. The two exceptions are RF Microneedling and laser.

Answer: Injectable treatments and breastfeeding Hi, thanks for your question. Unfortunately, we don't have enough evidence that tells us whether treatments such as Botox and filler are safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding, so we prefer to err on the side of caution and wait to treat things like volume loss once you are done nursing. We can't tell you these treatments are unsafe but we also can't confirm that they are safe. You may also find that your volume might return somewhat once you have finished nursing. That said, in the meantime, I recommend treating your skin with great skincare and waiting until you are finished breastfeeding to address the wrinkles and volume loss. Once you are ready, book a consultation with an experienced injector in order to determine what treatments will best address your needs.

Answer: What cosmetic procedures for wrinkles and volume loss are safe while breastfeeding? Hello, Thank you for your question. There haven’t been any large-scale studies on the safety of breastfeeding and Botox or dermal fillers. While most clinicians are of the opinion that the small dose and localized effects of these injectables is unlikely to affect lactation or the nursing infant, their use in women who are breastfeeding is considered to be off-label. I would primarily focus on topical skin care treatments and facials to promote skin cell turnover while breastfeeding, and obtain consultation about filler/Botox to address wrinkles and volume loss after you finish breastfeeding. I hope this helps. Best regards, Dr. Karanetz Dr. Irena KaranetzFellowship-TrainedBoard Certified Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Procedures during pregnancy and breastfeeding It is recommended not to have Botox or fillers while pregnant or breastfeeding. To help you feel refreshed and keep your skin looking its best you can consider a relaxing facial treatment. We also recommend using medical grade skin care products and wearing sunscreen every day.
