Do you have to brush after drinking soda in order to wear invisalign?

Thank you for posting you question.  Soda is a carbonated beverage which makes it very acidic. It can cause erosion of the enamel on your teeth the longer it stays on it.  It is best to at least rinse your mouth out with water before putting the aligner back in.  Another suggestion would be to use a straw to drink and take small sips so it keeps it away from your teeth as much as possible.  Hope this helps.  Good Luck! 

Hi Josh and thank-you for your question. I am sure you are aware that soda will eat away at the enamel on your teeth. Even diet soda is loaded with acid that can damage teeth. If you cannot give up your beloved soda and replace with water, it is important that you wait about an hour before brushing after drinking soda, as the enamel on your teeth is soft. Rinse with water after consuming soda. The most important part of the Invisalign system is the time needed to straighten your teeth. Although I advise against soda, you will probably be okay putting your aligners in after consuming soda as long as you thoroughly rinse with water after enjoying. Never consume food or drink with your aligners on as it could cause tooth decay and staining. Good luck!
