I have a big procheilon tubercle of the lips, can it be fixed? (Photos)

Question

I have a concern with my procheilon region of my lips. It seems to be big, but its been like this for the longest. I used to pull my upper lips (procheilon) with my bottom teeth as a child due to childhood anxiety. But now I notice when I take pictures its noticeable. I've had pictures of me as before as a toddler and my lips did not have it. Is it possible trama to the lips when you continually bite it?

I don't see why this can't be fixed.   We could possibly excise the extra tissue or redistribute it.  Should be easy to determine which with a quick office visit.

There are surgical and non-surgical approaches to lip augmentation. Non-surgical approaches include botox (slight lift, reducing gum show) and filler (volume restoration). Surgically, you can have two separate incisions under the nose (italian), one incision under the nose (bull horn), one incision at the red/white upper lip junction (gull wing) or two separate incision at the corners, or a combination, depending on your desired look and anatomy. In your case, if you are looking to remove the central scar that may have formed from the prior trauma you describe a surgical procedure may be performed. However, there will always be a risk of scarring and potential poor healing, especially if you are prone to keloids or abnormal healing elsewhere.An inperson consultation would help to determine your candidacy.

Thank you for your question. It is possible that continual injury to your lips has caused the malformation that you now see. This can be fixed via lip reduction, or cheiloplasty, techniques that utilize an incision on the inner surface of the lip to reduce the desired area. Hi Anna173,Your porcheilon can definitely be corrected by a simple procedure on an out patient basis, but I do agree that it is possible that constant biting may have caused the prominence, however, there is no way to verify that.
