Areolas are uneven and are different color after breast lift and augmentation. (Photos)

This was a peri-areolar lift where the excess skin was removed and a purse-string suture used to gather the excess down to to the desired areola size.  These are very difficult to get the size exactly equal even though the diameter of the areola was measured and incised exactly the same.  The reason the color is different is that for the left smaller areola the areolar skin a little more compressed inwardly. All of this can be revised easily as a procedure under local anesthesia, but give it 3-5 months for everything to stabilize and stretch. That will allow time to see if a revision is even needed.

Dear Suzy3232,I understand your concern and it is quite normal to be concerned about the outcome following a breast lift surgery. However, you are still in the very early stages of the healing process at 3 weeks  post op.Your will need to be patient at this moment and follow what your surgeon has instructed you to do post operatively.At the early stage of the healing process, the tissues are still swollen. At this stage everything appears to be healing appropriately. The scars of the periareola lift need to settle and you need advice regarding scar management. If after 12 months there is a lot of difference the scars can be revised but hopefully everything will settle of its own accord.

I would give it at least 6 months to year.  If at that time there is still a large size difference, then an areola revision can be performed.

Thank you for your question. For only 3 weeks after, you look great! It will take some time for things to settle - give it at least 3 months. Your coloring should improve - and if one areola is different than the other, your Plastic Surgeon may be able to fix it under local. Things like this happen, and it's completely normal. 1 you look extremely good, especially for so soon after surgery. It appears your surgeon did a very nice job.   2) scars/healing is a 6-12 month process, so you have a long way to go...the hypersensitivity issue comes under this heading as well.3) minor assymmetry is normal, whether you had surgery or not.4) significant asymmetries or scar issues that persist beyond 6-12 months can often be easily addressed by doing small revisions under local anesthesia in the office.

You are still early in the healing process after breast surgery and some asymmetry is to be expected. As the implants soften, settle and drop the breast shape will change. It can take 4-6 months before the implants look and feel like they belong to you. Be sure to keep any scheduled follow up appointments you have for his or her evaluation and advice. Good luck!
