Do you in your practice close this wound or leave it to heal on its own? The flesh seems to be protruding a bit if you look at the side view on pics above. If this is not closed and just left alone it will leave a huge scar under the nipple, which will look bad. Is this wound something to be worried or just "keep it clean" and "change dressings" is the only way to go?
Answer: Open Wound Under Areola After Breast Lift with Augmentation Once there is an open wound it has to be tended to until healed, and in this case it would appear that there is excess "granulation tissue" present. This is the raised, glistening tissue that is very vascular and it interferes with contraction and re-epitheliazation of the wound. Debriding this area and continuing with a dressing that provided a moist healing environment, such as a Duoderm dressing would be one option, and further treatment would depend on the progress of the wound toward closure. After it is healed and the tissues soften, perhaps six months of so later, a scar revision could be done if needed.

Answer: Wound protruding under nipple area. Thank you for your question and photographs. No online reviewer can diagnose or make treatment recommendations based on photographs alone. Based on the images I would recommend contacting ones surgeon to help manage this wound. Good luck.

Answer: Healing after breast surgery From your photographs, it seems you have a small area from poor healing. In the area that protrudes, your body has generated excess vessels because it is trying to heal. Doctors would deal with this in different fashions, but I would scrape the excess tissue away and chemically burn the base. This usually allows the body to start over and create a better environment for healing. There will be some excess scar in that area, but any decision to do a revision would probably be made in 3 to 6 months.

Answer: Over granulation I am sorry to hear about your wound. This has overgranulated and although a nuisance will heal. You need to have regular dressings with your PS. I personally tend to use silver nitrate and silver nitrate impregnated dressings but best for your PS to advise.

Answer: Huge wound protruding under nipple area. Can this be fixed/closed to prevent huge scar? Breast lift/implants. Sorry for the postoperative wound complication of dehiscence. Each MD practices in different manners. I might silver nitrate the exposed granulation tissue weekly. Or offer PRP infusion to the area with laser external red light therapy to stimulate faster healing. Others would treat with local wound care. Others might attempt surgical re closure. You need to decide if your surgeon is answering all your concerns and if you desire in person send opinions and alternative therapies, understand seeing new surgeons for treatment is a fee incurred event..
