Alarplasty and tip refinement on very wide black nose. Possible? (photos)

Hello. I'm wondering if anything can be done on my wide nose. I know black noses can be difficult to retain a natural look. However, I don't want an implant or raised bridge. I like my nose aside from how LARGE it is. It disrupts the harmony of my features. I just want a hopefully smaller version of what it is now. Will an alarplasty help? As bringing in the nostrils will draw attention to the tip, will a refinement be possible there? Thank you.

The photos you display show a wide nasal base , which can be altered by alar base resections. This means that skin i removed inside the nostrils to narrow the width of the nose. Done correctly this can give the effect you want without changing the bridge. Each case is different, so a consultation with an experienced rhinoplasty surgeon is important.

My assessment of your nose and recommendations are as follows:1. Narrow the nostrils with alar reduction to reduce the roundness and help make a pyramid shape when you view it from the bottom.2. Narrow and elevate the tip of the nose by placing a cartilage strut between the tip cartilages that make up the tip. This will also help make the nose more of a pyramid.3. The bones of the nose may be narrowed to keep the overall proportion appropriate.4. Consider a chin implant to balance it with the nose.

If you desire the lower 1/3 to be modified, it can with a base reduction and tip refinement. There will be limitations to the refinement because of the thickness of the tissues.

You need an expert Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who is an expert at the African American nose-many are not.A conservative alar base resection can narrow the nostrils. Cartilage tip and strut grafting can elevate and narrorw the tip. Expect two procedures.
