I am dissolving voluma. 1 syringe w new injector (.03 cc on each cheekbones , 02 on back of jaw). After a week or 2 it began to swell up my entire face (no pain no redness just major bloat all over my face). once dissolved, i will need filler. My old injector only uses juvedem ultra and ultra plus. i am scared of all juvederm. he says it was a normal reaction to hyaluronic acid. im scared to use juvedem yet i dont want to experiment with another injector. Should i change injector use restylane?
Answer: Swelling after Voluma Dear victoriaaxoxoxo:Sorry to hear about your trouble, this is tough. The most likely cause of your swelling is the Vucross technology used in Juvéderm Voluma, Vollure, and Volbella. I would avoid those products in the future. You might want to see an injector who utilizes a number of different fillers. Radiesse and Sculptra have no chemical similarities to Voluma. Or, you may do well with a different HA filler with NASHA cross-linking technology, such as Restylane. Juvéderm Ultra and Ultra plus are not typically used anymore in the areas you describe, where more lift is generally required. Restylane Lyft and Restylane, and even Restylane Defyne can be great for these areas. It can requires a lot of hyaluronidase, in multiple sessions, to dissolve Voluma. I hope you do well! Answer: Reaction to Voluma Thanks for the question. It is difficult to really say what you are allergic to, as Voluma has several components in it. There is lidocaine, hyaluronic acid, and cross-linking products. Either way, I would first worry about getting the material dissolved, and then let your face calm down. With the next product you choose (Restylane vs. Radiesse vs. Sculptra), I would have the injector do a "test spot" to make sure that you don't react to the next product. Good luck!

Answer: It’s hard to dissolve voluma Be patient, it’s a bit hard to dissolve voluma and don’t be surprised if it takes a few attempts. When completed, I would give your face a little time before re injecting. At that point it is very acceptable to switch to Restylane-based products.

Answer: Juvederm issues I hope your injecting physician is a plastic surgeon or dermatologist. People who keep bouncing between injector number, injector number 2 and injector number 3 tend to create more problems for themselves. I would recommend that you visit a plastic surgeon like myself, be evaluated and treated accordingly. There's no reason to be afraid of all the Juvederm products. Good luck from New York City
