My skin is good for 52 but when I speak the skin above my top lip purses like at the top of a curtain with loads of lines. It looks utterly awful and reminds me of a cruel aunt! Will fillers work? Is it normal to have such wrinkling at this age? Thanks.
Answer: Lip lift The distance between your nose and upper lip is too great. I recommend a lip lift. A lip lift does 4 things: shortens the distance between your nose and upper lip, increases the mucosa of the upper lip, increases the incisor show and pulls up the corners. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Answer: Need to come in to consult For unique cases where a variety of modalities could be used to treat the condition, I would suggest an in-person or virtual consultation to develop a custom and effective treatment plan. It is difficult to precisely define the best option without collecting the same information. I suggest reaching out to an expert for a consultation with surgical and non-surgical methods to get a comprehensive option. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Fillers It is not uncommon to experience wrinkling and fine lines around the mouth area as we age, especially if we have a history of sun damage, smoking, or other lifestyle factors that can contribute to premature aging of the skin. These lines are often referred to as "smoker's lines" or "lip lines," but they can also occur in non-smokers. Fillers, such as hyaluronic acid or collagen, can be effective in reducing the appearance of these lines and restoring volume to the area. However, it's important to consult with a qualified practitioner who can assess your individual needs and recommend the most appropriate treatment plan. In addition to fillers, there are other non-invasive treatments that can also be effective in reducing the appearance of lip lines, such as laser resurfacing, chemical peels, and microdermabrasion. Ultimately, whether or not the wrinkling around your mouth is "normal" for your age depends on a variety of factors, including genetics, lifestyle habits, and overall health. However, if these lines are causing you concern or making you feel self-conscious, there are many safe and effective treatments available that can help you achieve a smoother, more youthful-looking appearance. Best of luck !

Answer: #UpperLipLines when pursing lips Hello Luc69: There are several causes for upper lip lines. Yours apparently show only when pursing your lips. Since they arise from muscle contractions (of the perioral muscle around your mouth), the solution is to relax that muscle with precise placement of a very small amount of Jeuveau or Botox. You will still be able to smile, talk and eat normally, but will no longer be creating those deep furrows, which can become etched in over time, when you purse your lips. This is a simple and inexpensive fix but should be performed by an expert injector.
