Would nonsurgical nose job help with nose widening when I smile? It also looks very flat in pictures (Photos)

I like the shape of my nose and don’t want to significantly alter it. However what I am curious about is whether a non surgical nose job or some other non invasive procedure can help with how my nose widens significantly when I fully smile. It always ends up looking very wide and flat in every picture.

A little dermal filler on the bridge and in the tip of the nose will define the nose and will help make it less flat, more lifted and more pointy at the tip. And, although results are subtle, a little Botox injected in the nostrils and under the nose can decrease the activity of the muscles that pull sideways and downward- therefore making the nose appear slimmer.This will create the look you want from all angle, and through any facial expression.

Addressing the shape of your nose (especially the nostrils and nasal tip) is actually one of the most common reasons people seek out and undergo a rhinoplasty. Unfortunately, there are no good non-surgical approaches which would properly achieve what you're looking for (and the ones that exist- e.g. nasal filler- carry the risk of blindness)! An open septorhinoplasty can best address both your aesthetic concerns and any functional issues with your nose. I would be able to adjust the size, shape, and definition of your nose (including the nostrils, and tip)!

This truly a surgery of millimeters- and whether you're looking for a minor adjustment or a major transformation, it requires exceptional surgical skill to achieve functional and natural-looking results! Because your nose is the DEFINING feature of your face- I would only recommend seeing a surgeon who specializes in rhinoplasty procedures, and who has significant training and experience performing these surgeries. Surgery would be the best course to add strength and support to the tip, which will then better resist drooping and spreading when you smile. Filler placed may give a little better definition in the tip and botox placed at the base of the nose can reduce the contractions that spread the nose, but you have to go to an experienced injector for that.

Everyone's nose gets wider when we smile because the bottom of our nose is attached to our cheeks. In my opinion, adding fillers to the lower one third of your nose may lead to a wider appearance. I hope this is helpful! Sincerely, Dr Joseph

Of course, an in-person examination would permit a more definitive evaluation. However, generally speaking, it be worthwhile to inquire about the use of a just one or two microdroplets of Botox in each nasal wing for diminishing the flaring of the nostrils described here. Fillers would not help in narrowing the nose.  A rhinoplasty would be most pleasing by refining your tip and narrowing your alar base.
