Lower Lip Laceration Healing Concern – Risk of Notch or Bump? (Photos)

I am a 27-year-old male. Five days ago (Monday) I sustained a lower lip laceration after being punched/falling and hitting my lip. The wound was not stitched. The injury is located in the center of my lower lip and extends through the pink portion of the lip. I can move my lip normally and have no difficulty speaking or drinking. I am extremely concerned about the cosmetic outcome. The wound currently has a white/yellow healing area over the split and there is still swelling. When I open my mouth, the split appears more visible. When my lips are relaxed and closed, the injury is much less noticeable. My main concerns are: 1. Does this appear to be healing normally for day 5? 2. Does the white/yellow area look like normal healing tissue (fibrin/granulation tissue), or does it look like tissue loss? 3. Based on the timing (day 5) and appearance, is it likely the lip will continue to fill in and close over the next 1–3 weeks? 4. What is the realistic risk of a permanent notch, bump, or visible split? 5. Is it too late for any type of repair now? 6. Would you recommend evaluation by a plastic surgeon or oral/maxillofacial surgeon in person, or should I continue to allow it to heal? I am primarily worried about a permanent cosmetic deformity and whether the lip tissue will continue to remodel as healing progresses.
