every surgery has a potential risk of embolism. However, with precautions and following recommendations that risk can be significantly lowered. The risk of fat embolism is increased when fat is transferred into the muscles and not above them. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Fat emboli during buttock augmentation occurs during the re-injection of the processed fat, not during the liposuction. Liposuction technique should not affect the incidence of fat emboli, however you should identify a surgeon who only injects above the muscle since intramuscular injections are much more prone to injections into the blood vessels.
