I've been strongly considering consulting for a Power BBL (Power assisted laser liposuction) but I wanted to know how much safer this procedure is than a typical BBL, for example, is fat embolism still a possibility?
Answer: is AirSculpt Power BBL safer than a traditional BBL & is fat embolism still a possibility? Hello @Genius657669, thank you fro your question. Any procedure that has technological advances helps to improve, first of all, the results of the procedure and the patient's safety. In any type of surgery in which something invasive has to be done in some way, there are always going to be risks. These risks can be taken into account prior to the surgery depending on the type of process to be performed and can also be minimized by following the clinical indications and performing the previous exams and using technology that helps to minimize the impact on the body. Answer: BBL candidate Dear Genius657669, every surgery has a potential risk of embolism. However, with precautions and following recommendations that risk can be significantly lowered. The risk of fat embolism is increased when fat is transferred into the muscles and not above them. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Fat embolism after BBL Fat emboli during buttock augmentation occurs during the re-injection of the processed fat, not during the liposuction. Liposuction technique should not affect the incidence of fat emboli, however you should identify a surgeon who only injects above the muscle since intramuscular injections are much more prone to injections into the blood vessels.

Answer: Fat embolism and BBL Using marketing terms to describe surgical procedures does not make them inherently different. A BBL is still a BBL even if you call it by a different name. Almost all plastic surgeons have Inc. recommended safety standards which is drastically reduced the incidence of fat embolism‘s. I suggest having in person consultations at which time you can speak to the surgeon personally about the BBL procedure possible complications and specifically about your candidacy and expected results. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
