Myobloc is the only FDA approve preparation of botulinum toxin B. It does block muscle contraction but the effect only lasts about a month. Compare this for 4 months for botunlum toxin A. It is on the market because some individuals who require repetitive treatment with botulinum toxin A for medical reasons can become resistant. The botulinum toxin B offers an alternative treatment.
