Is eye twitching after Botox an indicator of potential ptosis?

Question

I am female mid 30s. I had Botox 6 months ago and plan to return this weekend for x3 area - between eyebrows, smile lines and forehead. When I last had Botox on the same day I developed a twitch to my left eye within the hour, which lasted several weeks. Did the Botox cause this? A nurse friend has told me I was lucky I didn’t develop ptosis and I am worried this will happen again. Is eye twitching after Botox an indicator of potential ptosis? Or just a side effect of Botox settling?

Thank you for sharing your questions. The Botox did not cause your twitching. There is always a chance of a ptotic eyelid following Botox injections. This is reduced by having an experienced doctor perform your treatment. Make an appointment with an experienced oculoplastic surgeon. Good luck!

Thank you so much for your question! Eye twitching after Botox injections can be a side effect of the treatment and is not necessarily an indicator of potential ptosis. The twitching usually goes away on its own after a few days or weeks. It is relatively rare when ptosis can occur after Botox injections around the eye area. Hope it helped!
