Thank you for your very important question.I have been performing ButtockAugmentation with Silicone Implants for almost 13 years in downtown Toronto, Canada. This is a great and very satisfactory procedure. That being said, the complications with #ButtockImplants are higher than with Breast Implants; more hematomas (blood around the implants), more seromas (clear fluid around the implant), malpositioning, wound dehiscence (opening) and infection. Most of us put the implants under the fascia of the muscle and/or within a few mm of muscle fibers... I assume this is what your surgeon did (and not under the fat itself where it tends to shift). Each surgeon has a different protocol. But the Dr Marc DuPere Protocol is as follows: 1. drains for 7-9 days; 2. no showers while the drains are in place, 3. compression garment for 6 weeks; 4. stitches in place for 7-10 days, 5. double parallel incision, 4-5 mm apart (which alleviates the stress on the incision and help preventing the opening of the scar), 6. sub-fascial and slightly intramuscular placement of the prostheses, 7. preoperative and postoperative antibiotics; 8. very importantly, no sitting for 3 weeks (with the exemption of washroom visits with great care); and most importantly, 9. no physical activities for 3 months (excessive movement between the implants and the muscle prior to the capsule forming may increase risks of seromas).Since I adopted this protocol, the complications have been kept very low.Do get an experienced board-certified plastic surgeon. Hope this helps! Best, Dr Marc DuPere
