How long after a breast lift/rhinoplasty is it safe to fly?

I suggest to my patients at least a week, and I had a patient fly from Philadelphia to Utah the next day after an augmentation/lift operation. She had no problems whatsoever. Dear Thearoses, thank you for your question, you should be able to fly back after 15 to 21 days following all the post op protocols and your surgeon advices. However, every plastic surgeon has his own postoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. Make sure you go on consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon. I understand your concern. It is best that you consult your plastic surgeon regarding post operative care and management (i.e including massage techniques and timing) specific to your case. Your surgeon knows your condition well and has preferences on when and what to use for faster healing and recovery. Post operative care and management depends on the type of surgery performed and the technique used during surgery among other factors.It is best, however, that you follow your plastic surgeon's advice on post operative care management for a smooth and faster healing and recovery.

This question is best answered by your surgeon as she/he is most familiar with your surgical plan and medical history. You will want to wait a few weeks before flying, but other recommendations may be made based on the length of the flight you are planning. Some examples may be medications, compression stockings, or exercises for you to do while flying. Your surgeon should guide you through this process.

It is recommended not to fly, especially long flights, for at least 30 days after general anesthesia. When you do fly, wear compressive stockings and get up often and move around the cabin.

Hi and welcome to our forum!Following these procedures, it is best to wait at least a week before travelling by air. Differences in air pressure with altitude may affect swelling, and confinement in a small space immediately after surgery may be problematic. However, a 15 hour flight will initially be quite difficult even without undergoing surgery! 4 weeks seems a reasonable period of time. Best wishes...
