I have a weak chin which stresses the nerves and muscles below my lower lip. I've had braces before, however my ortho concluded that jaw surgery is probably not worthwhile. I hesitate because of the long recovery time and the need for braces. However, if the result is significantly better aesthetically & functionally, i'd go with the jaw implant. Can I expect to achieve a similar result with a chin implant? What other long-term aesthetic and functional factors should I consider?
