Is 345 CC high profile the smallest implant size I can go? (photos)

Question

Hello! I had a consultation with a plastic surgeon and the smallest size implant I can go according to him is 345CC. Is that true? I just want a fuller and perkier look. But he said according to my measurements from my chest, ribs and nipple. I need the implants that size to fill in the room. I a photo of my chest bellow. I am also 5’3” 114lbs. I just don’t want my frame to look large and too heavy. Thank you!

After I measure and discuss goals with my patients, we then look at pictures of women (my patients) with similar measurements with different size and style breast implants, and they choose what looks right for them. They also get to see what they would look like when the breasts have fully dropped and fluffed and in clothes. You get to see actual results and the surgeon's experience and not a virtual idea of what can be achieved. That is not true.  The implant sizes that are available to you depend on the width of your existing breast tissue, so a high profile implant cannot be the smallest reasonable option, because a lower profile implant of the same width will also "fit."  He may be expressing that they think 345cc will look best for some reason or be sharing his personal aesthetic.  In my practice, we go through a sizing process where you try on sizing molds of different volumes to see what matches your shape and size goals, as well as measurements and reviewing goal photos.

breast implant type and sizing selection is a complicated process and requires a detailed consultation that includes a discussion of your goals, a detailed examination, and a lengthy discussion. But the decision will always start and end with the patient. When it comes to sizing, we have all of our patients find 3 photos of their desired breast size. We ask for naked breast photos because clothing can obscure the true size (push up bras). Next, we consult with patients and go over the photos and take detailed breast measurements during a physical exam. Next, we using a sizing algorithm to determine a range of implants that will work based on the exam and the measurements.Lastly, during the operation, we use silicone sizers in the operating room to see how the size actually looks in the breast. We sit the patient up in the operating room, while asleep of course, and compare the sizer result with their desired look photos. If it is too small, we start the process over with a slightly larger implant. We don't stop until we get the perfect match.Of all of my breast augmentation patients, every one of them has been happy with their size due to this detailed and meticulous process. You don't want to invest time and money into a result that is either too big or too small.You should discuss your concerns with a board-certified plastic surgeon and make sure that your surgeon understands your goals.

I appreciate your concerns, however, a photograph of your breasts without clothing, would be needed to better advise you. 
Generally speaking, it does sound like those are large implants for someone of your height and weight. Unless you have significant Breast Deflation from previous pregnancies, I do not see why this plastic surgeon is recommending such large implants. Come see me or another board-certified plastic surgeon in our area to get a second opinion, and explore the best options for you. Good luck.

350cc is about the average size implant that I put in patients that are your height and weight. This increases breast size approximately one and a half cup sizes. You can certainly go smaller and you should get  exactly what you want. I always suggest a range of implants that will fit and then let patients try on sizers in office to help make the final selection. You should check back in with your surgeon or get a second opinion in person consult. Good luck.

Thank you for your question.  There are some surgeons that go blindly by chest width measurements and not the patient desires.  You clearly can have a much smaller implant than 345 cc.  I would suggest that you seek other opinions from other board-certified plastic surgeons.  Best wishes to.

That is the most difficult question to answer. It is the patient, not the surgeon, who should make the final decision about volume, given the certain range. Most plastic surgery offices with higher volume of BA will have sizers that you can try and see what is closest to your expectations. It is impossible to give you meaningful advise based on this photo. Another consult would not be a bad idea if you are in doubt. Hope this helps.

Unfortunately it is impossible to recommend the best implant style, size or shape without an in-person examination that allows for the measurement of key breast parameters, as well as permits an in-depth discussion as to your desired goals and outcome. I would recommend continuing to discuss your concerns with your plastic surgeon or seek additional consultations to ensure that the implants you decide upon are the right ones to meet your expectations. You can certainly decrease the cc size, and the easiest way is to reduce the profile of your implant from high to moderate. Best wishes!

Your photo is not much help since you are hiding your breasts with clothing and hair. However, at 5'3" and 114 pounds, the 335 cc implant might be your largest, not smallest, size implant for your frame and tissue. Measurements are needed to be certain. You can always choose a smaller size.

It is unlikely that you would not be able to consider an implant smaller than 345cc, although an examination is needed to give specific recommendations.
