10 Days Pre-op if Vaginal Yeast Infection, if OK to Take Monistat Pre- Explant?

I have leaking silicon implants. Total removal in 10 days. Currently 2 probiotics (VSL-3) daily. Had been on long course antibiotics. Developed vaginal yeast infection. Do I treat pre-op? Is Monistat 7 day ok?

Thank you for your question. This should not present any problems, but you need to report all medications to your doctor, and have them aware of this as well as your anesthesia provider. I hope this helps.

Check with your surgeon, though I would anticipate that Diflucan will be recommended for treatment, since it is highly effective and requires just a single dose.

	Call you plastic surgeon for his (her) recommendation for your vaginal yeast infection care.  In our practice I do not use Monistat for this problem.

	A prescribed single dose of diflucan is our treatment of choice and this should get you comfortable well before your elective implant removals.

You really need to clear this through your surgeon, but it seems to me you should be able to treat the yeast infection and have it cleared in plenty of time for surgery.

	We treat it nowdays with a single dose of Diflucan. Your surgeon can write the Rx.
