Larger areas, or thicker areas, take longer to heal than smaller or thinner areas. In general, most areas will heal by six months, but there is a wide variation. Throughout the healing process, wearing compression garments properly and going for massages are the mainstays of management.
It depends upon the amount of laser energy delivered and the amount of fat removed (most plastic surgeons will remove fat after the laser to remove the free fatty acids which can cause uneven results). For smaller amounts of fat/laser energy, I tell patients that they will see their final result at around 3 months. For more aggressive liposuction, they may see improvements for up to a year.Take care and best wishes.
If the surgery is performed with tumescent and appropriately, it takes roughtly 3-6 months to see the full effect and sometimes there is increasing improvement for up to 12-24 months later. My patients continue to get skin tightening for years after the treatment. I suggest seeing a body contouring specialist for your surgery, to ensure optimal results and a personalized approach. Best, Dr. Emer.
For most patients, you should see results from Smart Lipo immediately. However, the "full" results may not be seen for many months after the procedure. Initially, there will be a period of swelling that could last for months before completely subsiding. After the first 1-2 weeks, you can expect an additional 20-30% improvement as the swelling goes down over the next 3-6 months. An additional benefit of Smart Lipo is that the laser energy can be used to heat up the skin to a desired amount which will result in tightening of the skin. This process can take 6 months to fully manifest.
Just like traditional tumescent liposuction, or any surgical procedure for that matter, SmartLipo recovery is a process of healing that takes six months to year or even longer before final results will be realized. Healing from SmartLipo is an ongoing process that can be facilitated to some degree with good nutrition, compression garments and massage and/or ultrasound treatment. Maintaining good health through proper diet and light exercise and avoidance of smoking is key to any successful recovery. Your board-certified plastic surgeon will provide you with instruction for pre- and post-operative guidelines to follow to ensure the swiftest results.Best, Scott A. You need to give it about 4--6 months to see the final results of a liposuction. You really want to allow for the swelling to improve.
The results from liposuction or SmartLipo appear gradually as the healing process matures. In general, expect swelling to peak at about five days after the procedure. From about 14 to 21 days, the majority of swelling goes down. From three weeks to six weeks, expect that your skin and the fat below it may be hard and lumpy. At three months, you should see 80% to 90% of your results, and everything should feel nice and soft. After six months, I don't believe you will see many changes, and you can consider your results as final.I hope that helps.Best of luck,Mats Hagstrom, M.D.
As a cosmetic surgeon who performs over 1000 liposuction treatments annually, I find that the time for final results varies among patients, but generally it takes 6 months. Results depend upon several factors, including skin thickness, skin laxity, original fat volume, amount of energy used during laser treatment, proper compression, and more.I strongly advise you to take advantage of the benefits of proper long-term compression. Compression helps expedite the healing process in large part by keeping the swelling down, as well as improving comfort level.Good luck on your progress!Windell Davis Boutte, MD
Thank you for your question about smart liposuction.I am sorry you are concerned and I understand why.Smart liposuction uses intense laser heat to melt fat - which is then removed with a standard cannula.Your photos suggest that the laser heat and/or the cannulae damaged the thin arm skin,...
Different areas and different people heal differently. This skin of the arms is usually thinner and looser that the skin of the torso. If the arm was large, there is probably a larger excess of skin and it might not reduce to complete tightness especially if you have stretch marks or are a heavy...
Thank you for your question. A photo would be very helpful in giving your the most beneficial answers to your questions. The best treatment most certainly depends on how loose your skin and how much of it there is. Cool Sculpting will modestly decrease the amount of...
Flanks usually require significant mechanical effort with the equipment. This "trauma" causes swelling and numbness which will resolve over time. Usually the numbness is the last change to resolve and can take many months. Lumps should be massaged professionally frequently in the first month of...
All lipo carries risks to the skin of permanent wrinkles and discoloration, and risks of lumps and indentations of the contours. Smart lipo by any name or any other brand of laser lipo adds the risk of laser burns to the skin to the list of possible aesthetic complications.
Thanks for the question. Based on your photos, you might be a good candidate for smart lipo. I recommend you to contact a Board Certified Surgeon for consultation. I wish you all the best.
