All lipo carries risks to the skin of permanent wrinkles and discoloration, and risks of lumps and indentations of the contours. Smart lipo by any name or any other brand of laser lipo adds the risk of laser burns to the skin to the list of possible aesthetic complications.
The risks are similar to other liposuction techniques along with the risk for burns due to the heat generation.Kenneth Hughes, MDLos Angeles, CA
In the right hands smart lipo is very safe. Because it uses laser you could theoretically get a burn or scarring, but that is only if the person using the device isnt experienced or well trained. Otherwise, it should give you a great result if you are a great candidate. Best, Dr. Emer.
Smart lipo is actually very safe. It is a type of laser liposuction that breaks up or "melts" fat which makes the procedure less painful to the patient and can be done under local anesthesia in the right hands. It also heats up the dermis in order to provide some skin tightening which occurs 3-6 months after the procedure. The loose skin is tightened by ~50%. The side effects are similar to regular liposuction and include post-op pain bruising, and surface irregularities. As far as the laser, if not done carefully, the skin can be burned. Smart lipo is a great procedure for the right candidate. Find a PS in your area and undergo a consultation, to see if this is right for you.
Smartlipo is a safe and minimally invasiveprocedure. There are no major side effects with Smartlipo; there may be slightbruising and swelling which will subside within just a few days to weeks.Consult with your surgeon to make sure that this is the best procedure for you.
I have found smart liposuction to be one of the safest procedures with the lowest complications that I perform. Out of doing just over 2,000 procedures, I've had one serious complication. That patient developed an infection that required hospitalization. She was appropriately treated and did fine with overall good results.I don't know of any major cosmetic operation that has a better safety profile.Even with a procedure such as smart liposuction, serious, including fatal, outcomes have occurred. The law requires every surgeon to disclose risks and benefits of every procedure done. While it is not possible to list every conceivable complication, this is part of the consultation, and obtaining consent is serious and should be addressed as such.I suggest you have an in-person consultation with an experienced board-certified plastic surgeon to go over any specific concerns in more detail.Best of luck,Mats Hagstrom, M.D.
Thanks for the question. Based on your photos, you might be a good candidate for smart lipo. I recommend you to contact a Board Certified Surgeon for consultation. I wish you all the best.
Loose upper abdominal skin can sometimes be corrected with surgery on the umbilicus itself or with a reverse tummy tuck where the skin beneath breasts is tightened up to pull the wrinkles away in an upward direction. However, without a photo no real recommendation can be made.
Safety of liposuction has nothing to do with the "smart lipo", liposuction in the right patient can be done awake or under anesthesia. There is a lot involved with liposuction and it is best to have an in person consultation to discuss all options
