2 Weeks out from Ultherapy to forehead I have under eye bags and bruising on medial portions of orbital bones and eyelids. No allergies. Saw MD who wrote standing order for MRI if symptoms increase.
Answer: Ultherapy and swelling. Having done many Ulthera cases, I have only ever seen bruising on the lower face/cheeks and neck area. If you had injections to the forehead with a local anesthetic that may have caused bruising and swelling in the area around the eyes. It is possible if you bruise easily that you could have bruising and swelling from Ulthera, especially if you are on supplements or medications which increase your risk for bruising. This is not likely related to sinus drainage, and will resolve likely in 2-3 wks. Hope this helps, Dr. P.

Answer: Can Ultherapy affect sinus drainage? Ultherapy would normally not affect sinus drainage. If you are having sinus problems after the Ultherapy treatment to your forehead, I would look for other causes.

Answer: Ultherapy and sinusitis Thank you for your question.I have done Ultherapy since 2010 and have not seen sinus problems after Ultherapy. In ultrasound physicis, bone has high impedence and would absorb all energy if it reached that far down. Ultherapy energy is focused to 4.5 mm at the deepest (with the 4.5 transducer) and this energy does not penetrate below this layer. If it did, the bone would absorb the energy. Answer: Is it possible that Ultherapy to the forehead can affect sinus drainage? It is not likely that Ultherapy caused problems with your sinuses or swelling and bruising in the lower lids. In the absence of trauma, some radiographic study should be done investigate the reason for swelling. Perhaps, before undergoing MRI, start with an X-ray to ensure that there is no bony pathology and then move towards a more comprehensive test if needed

Answer: Ultherapy and sinus drainage Bags under the eyes and "bruising" of eyelids are not necessarily signs of obstruction of sinus drainage so the premise of the question may not be accurate. Did you have any anesthetic injection of the forehead before Ultherapy? did you only have the forehead treated with Ultherapy? It is possible that you may have developed eyelid swelling and bruising secondary to the energy delivered by the Ultherapy and how sensitive your skin may be. After all, Ultherapy works by creating soft tissue trauma which then stimulates collagen production that results in skin tightening and lifting. The trauma may also include capillaries which will leak small out of blood, causing the eyelid bruising. It should resolve spontaneously.
