My incision is turning dark blue/black, and my breast is red and swollen 3 months after surgery. What is causing this? (Photo)

Thank you for your pictures.  It almost looks  like your implant is trying to come through that incision. You need to seek immediate attention from your plastic surgeon or someone covering for him or her while out of town

Based on these photos-- it appears that it is a hematoma-- that requires an immediate attention. See your PS right away.

Your concerns are well- founded and spot on! Three months after implant exchange, your breasts should be returning to normal, not getting more abnormal. You should be seen by your surgeon or the surgeon who is providing practice coverage while your surgeon is out of town.  I would not wait.  It would also be important to take note of any fever.....you will surely be asked that question. Good luck and don't give up until you are seen by a board certified plastic surgeon. Don't despair,  the fix may be relatively easy. Best Wishes,JW

From the photograph it looks as though an old hematoma is necessitating through your incision. This requires urgent attention.

suggests the implant is trying to come out.  I hope you can see your surgeon asap to be evaluated for this because once the skin ruptures, the likelihood of salvaging the implant is near zero. 

You may have an infection. If your PS is out of town, he is required to have another PS available to cover urgent patient issues. Call the office. If no one is at the office the call should turn over to the answering service which should be able to contact the "covering" PS. If that fails go to an emergency that has a PS on call. I recommend you not delay.

Thanks for you post but your condition is urgent and requires immediate attention.  The blue discoloration is the implant and it is getting ready to become exposed.  It is possible that you have an infection.  In any event contact your surgeon or the on call doctor today. 

You need immediate medical attention, like NOW!! Call your surgeon to be seen. There MUST be a covering surgeon on call or go to closest ER ask for PS on call. Yes you need immediate surgical removal

this is most likely an infection, with impending extrusion.  This needs to be urgently treated to avoid bacteremia and sepsis, as well as tissue loss and damage. the implant probably should be left out for months before reimplantation.

Based on your photographs it appears the implant is showing through the very thin and stretched skin.  This may be an impending extrusion during which the implant can become exposed and breakthrough the skin.  You need to see her plastic surgeon immediately.
