Hello, I am a healthy, happy, attractive , 32yr plus size woman who loves being plus size just wish I had a flatter stomach. I am currently 314lbs and most of my weight is in my stomach . I am looking to drop maybe 50 to 75pounds but would like to get the apron removed as it is in the way of Like working out. I don't want to have weight loss surgery because as I stated I am very happy being plus size plus. My pannus hangs a little below my private area and rubs against my legs which is annoying.
Answer: Panniculectomy I think as long as your expectations are set appropriately, there is no reason why you cannot have the excess skin and fat removed. But, you have to view this as a functional kind of procedure to allow you to better exercise and achieve your weight loss goals. While generally most plastic surgeons recommend operating on patients with a BMI under 30, that is not to say it can't be done otherwise. However, as stated, it is more functional, and the results are much less cosmetic than what is possible when the BMI is under 30. As well, you must accept a slight increase in risks such as wound healing problems and infection, etc. I would make a few consultations with board-certified plastic surgeons to talk about your goals in greater detail.Best of luck!Dr. SubbioBoard-Certified Plastic SurgeonNewtown Square/Philadelphia, PA

Answer: Stomach apron removal! Thank you for sharing your question. I would recommend seeing a local ASPS board certified plastic surgeon for a panniculectomy. This procedure is similar to a tummy tuck in that a lower abdominal incision is made from hip to hip, with the apron of hanging skin surgically removed. It does not offer the results of a tummy tuck but does get rid of the cumbersome nature of the stomach tissue. Hope this helps.

Answer: Go for it! Hello. IT is possible to improve the contour of your abdomen as you desire, and it would be beneficial for you to lose 50# first too. The result you get will be based on your anatomy and how you maintain your weight after surgery. I do this operation frequently and the patients are some of the most happy ones!Good luck!

Answer: Apron removal (Panniculectomy) A panniculectomy is a very reasonable procedure to undergo while on your weight loss journey. At a certain point, it can interfere with fitness activities. As with any cosmetic procedure, it is tailored to where you are at the time of the surgery. Occasionally, insurance MIGHT cover the cost, but it is best to be prepared to cover the cost yourself. Depending on your overall condition, the procedure might be performed as an outpatient, but the ability to stay overnight with nursing care is desirable. In my practice, you would have drains for about a week, and need to wear a binder or compression for 4 weeks. Good luck on your journey!

Answer: Gastric bypass first You are best served to lose the weight first then have the apron removed. You probably need to have a gastric bypass by a bariatric surgeon . Good luck.
