Answer: Enough time passed Hello, your tissues are strong enough now after almost 1 year of tummy tuck, and hernia repair shouldn't mess up your tummy tuck result. regards.

Answer: Hernia repair Dear Phyllis3282, a small umbilical hernia is something that can be fixed during a full tummy tuck procedure. I routinely repair these during my tummy tuck procedures. Not everyone feels comfortably repairing these however. A mini-tummy tuck does not reset the umbilicus which it looks like is what you needed to get the results you were looking for. I would have to examine you to be certain. Answer: Umbilical Hernia Repair: Will It Affect My Tummy Tuck Results? I understand your concerns about the potential impact of an umbilical hernia repair on your tummy tuck results. Generally speaking, an umbilical hernia repair should not negatively affect the appearance of your tummy tuck. In many cases, a skilled surgeon can perform the hernia repair through a small incision near the belly button, leaving your tummy tuck incisions and results intact. However, it's essential to consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon who has experience in both hernia repair and tummy tucks to ensure the best possible outcome. It's important to address your umbilical hernia, as leaving it untreated can lead to complications. Your surgeon will be able to assess your specific situation and guide you through the process to ensure that both your hernia and your tummy tuck results are maintained. Thank you for reaching out, and I wish you the best of luck with your hernia repair and your continued recovery from your tummy tuck. If you have any further concerns, don't hesitate to consult with your surgeon. Sincerely, Dr. Katzen

Answer: If I get my umbilical hernia removed, will it mess up my tummy tuck? Hello, Thank you for the question. Typically, umbilical hernia repair will not affect the tummy tuck results but previous umbilical scar which is created during traditional tummy tuck, does put your umbilicus (belly button) at higher risk for wound healing complications and possible belly button loss. I would recommend an in person evaluation by your plastic surgeon and general surgeon to further discuss your questions and concerns. I hope this helps. Best regards, Dr. Karanetz Dr. Irena Karanetz Fellowship-Trained Board Certified Plastic Surgeon
