Answer: Combination pf procedures Dear Celebrated974876, generally speaking, you shouldn't combine hiatal hernia repair and tummy tuck. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Tummy Tuck and Hernia Repair Thank you for your question regarding the possibility of a tummy tuck with a small hernia. Based on your description, it is entirely possible to safely have a tummy tuck while addressing the hernia at the same time. In fact, I highly recommend repairing the hernia during your tummy tuck procedure. Many board-certified plastic surgeons, including myself, are experienced in performing hernia repairs in conjunction with tummy tucks. Combining these procedures is beneficial because it allows for the correction of the hernia while simultaneously improving the contour and functionality of the abdomen. This approach reduces the need for multiple surgeries and recoveries, saving time and minimizing discomfort. Since your hernia is small and your acid reflux is well-managed, this should not pose a significant concern as long as your health is stable and you’re cleared for surgery by your medical team. Be sure to discuss your hernia details with your plastic surgeon so they can evaluate its location and complexity. If needed, your surgeon can collaborate with a general surgeon to ensure the repair is done properly. Choosing a board-certified plastic surgeon with experience in combined procedures will help you achieve safe and optimal results. Sincerely, Dr. Katzen

Answer: Surgery The two surgeries will probably not be done at the same time. A general surgeon would fix the hiatal hernia inside and the plastic surgeon would do the tuck. If you need the hiatal hernia fixed, do that one first.

Answer: Hiatal hernia Yes, you can typically have a tummy tuck even though you have a small hiatal hernia. This may increase your risk of acid reflux. Be sure to discuss your medical history with your surgeon.
