Can spreader grafts be used on just the lower portion of my nose?

Hello and thank you for your question. Spreader grafts can be used in the lower 1/3 of the nose to help straighten the nose and correct indentations in the dorsal aesthetic lines. without affecting the upper nose.  Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and not just a computer animation system.  You should be able to view numerous pictures of actual patients with noses similar to yours performed by your surgeon.

It is a little hard to tell from the photo, but spreader grafts are often use to straighten a curvature of the bridge of the nose. Sometimes the asymmetry can be caused by the shape of the lower lateral cartilage which could require straightening as well. Be sure to see a rhinoplasty specialist for consultation.

The pinched appearance after rhinoplasty can often be corrected by placing alar grafts, either through a closed or an open approach.  This also corrects breathing difficulties stemming from the loss of alar support

Spreader grafts are strips of (usually septal) cartilage that are placed alongside the uppermost aspect of the nasal septum and can serve to widen the internal nasal valve, improve indentations of the nasal sidewall, or both. Please don't get too caught up in what technique you need.  An ideal consultation involves a discussion between you and your surgeon about what you dislike about your nose. The surgeon, who has the expertise to know what techniques work to address your concerns,  then formulates a surgical plan. Computer imaging helps solidify the discussion. 

HiThe short answer is yes you can have spreaders only in the middle 1/3 of the nose but this is unusual as normally we are narrowing the nasal bones as well.  It is impossible to give an opinion about your specific nose without more photos.CheersDamien

Spreader grafts can be placed anywhere along the bridge, sometimes high, sometimes low, and sometimes the whole length. Depending on you medical and cosmetic needs, they can be customized to fit the form you are creating.

Spreader grafts are pieces of cartilage in the shape of a match-stick that may have both functional and cosmetic applications. Yes, they may be used to straighten a nasal appearance when a nasal sidewall is indented. They also may lead to widening of the internal nasal valve for better breathing. Hope this helps. Dr Joseph 

A spreader graft is a small piece of cartilage that that can be positioned in the lower third of the nose to widen or spread that area. This does not effect the upper (bony) nose. The most important decision is to consult with an experienced expert in rhinoplasty. 

Hello and thank you for your question.  Yes, spreader grafts might actually be a good answer for narrowing in the middle portion of your nose.  Spreader grafts are also used to help straiten a crooked nose.  An in person consultation with an experienced surgeon will provide you the answers that you are looking for.
