Question

After a FUE procedure will the new hair grow first before it falls out or stay short. I had a procedure on crown and hairline 2 weeks ago and some of the hairs have started to grow and some remaining very short like stubble. Is this anything to worry about ? I assume the short stubbly ones are healthy and will fall out with the others in due course? All crusts have gone now.

It is normal to lose transplanted hairs days to weeks after surgery.  It may take 6 to 12 months to see new hairs grow out.Sometimes hairs may continue to grow without shedding.

Very rarely do the implanted hair (grafts) continue to grown and do not fall out. Count your blessings.

Transplanted graft’s hair starts to shedding in the first week of surgery and may go on untill 4-6 th weeks after surgery. İt is not surprising to lost approx.  %70-80 of all transplanted hair shafts in first month when you are washing, gently rubbing  or touching the head. İt is shock loss and not permanent. Even your native hair may affected with that post traumatic transient hair loss…New hair at transplant and donor area starts to grow at 3-4 th month after surgery .Non shedded newly transplanted hair may grow up .

These hairs may sooner or later shed. They are never a problem for new hairs that start to grow. Usually, there is a lag time between the time the hairs shed (2-8 weeks) and the time the new hair grows (3-8 months). IF for any reason, there is an overlap between the two, pay no attention to it for when the new hair grows, the old hairs from the grafts that may persist beyond 8 weeks, will eventually shed
