Aggressively massaging Juvederm facial filler 2 months after injection causing severe swelling and pain?

Hi there and thanks in advance. I had some filler injected around my marionette lines and jaw 2 months ago . I hate the effect as it's given me a man jaw . I was massaging the area aggressively last night to try And spread the filler and help it absorb . By doing this I've woken up to pain and the areas has swollen up quite a lot what should I do ?

I'm sorry to hear that you are not happy with the results of your Juvederm injections.  While mild swelling can occur after firmly massaging areas treated with fillers, the extent of redness and inflammation that you are experiencing is not typical and is concerning for a possible infection or reaction to your filler.  Please follow-up with your injector as soon as possible to discuss treatment options - you may need to have your filler dissolved with hyaluronidase.  I hope you feel better soon.

The first thing you should do is contact your physician.  My recommendation is to stop massaging the area and let the swelling go down.  If you really don't like the jaw, ask your physician if he/she can order hyaluronidase and inject it into the area.  It may dissolve the juvederm completely. I don't think your jaws look unacceptable so you may want to leave it alone.  I hope this helps you.

Your redness looks as if it is beyond what would be typical from a reaction to the massage. You need to make an appointment to see your surgeon to be evaluated. If you hate the filler, it sounds as if it would be smart to have it dissolved. Best of luck.

If your injection was just performed then it may be swelling. If it is more than a few weeks, then your only other option is dissolving it.

Massaging aggressively as you have done is not recommended. I'm afraid there might be an infection from scratching. The unwanted Juvederm can be dissolved with hyaluronidase. It might take more than one session but you should go back to normal after it is dissolved. I would see a doctor very soon for this.

you need to see a doctor immediately. There is redness which may have been caused either by your rubbing very aggressively or is a sign of an infection that may have nothing to do with your injection that was performed two months ago. Bottom line, see a doctor.Good luck from New York City
