Is a trichophytic brow lift the same as subcutaneous forehead lift?

this is the procedures that we developed more than 30 years ago. The advantage is if properly done it will not leave a scar since hair grows through the scar and not behind it. Examples of this can be seen on my website and others.  A much better brow lift is obtained with this procedure than endoscopic  in my opinion and the hairline can be lowered as well if desired.  Make sure you see examples of the surgeons work before having this done.

The endoscopic brow lift is the preferred method, when possible, because the incisions are so small in the hairline providing scars that will not be visible and because of a shorter recovery time that is less invasive. I suggest that you move forward and consult with a board certified facial plastic surgeon to determine your candidacy for brow lift surgery.

A trichophytic browlift does not raise the hairline, but there is always a risk of scarring that can be seen, even with the best surgeon. An endoscopic browlift, if done properly, rarely, if ever lifts the hairline. A good release of the brow tissue will give a nice elevation of the eyebrows that looks very natural, and an endoscopic browlift has very minimal risk of visible scarring - all things you would want in a cosmetic surgery procedure.

Hello a hairline browlift or pretrichial browlift/trichophytic does not raise the forehead distance. A subcutaneous browlift may mean the level at which the flap is elevated in the subcutaneous plane which is under the skin above the galea level. The subcutaneous plane is the 2nd layer of the scalp. There are 5 layers.

A trichophytic brow lift places the incision at the hairline and does not raise the hairline.  Brow lifts with incisions at or below the hairline would all not raise the hairline as well.  When a mid forehead lift is done, this is commonly performed in the subcutaneous plane but this incision is not at the hairline but normally in an existing forehead crease.  

The term "trichophytic" refers to the placement of the incision at the hairline.  It doesn't specifically refer to any plane of surgery i.e. subcutaneous, subgaleal or subperiosteal.  I do not do a trichophytic lift, but rather prefer the endoscopic approach.  I have found that there is little - if any - elevation of the hairline, and it has never been a problem for one of my patients.  Consider seeing a surgeon who uses this approach frequently for a consultation.

A tricophytic browlift is the same as a pretrichial browlift- both incisions are at the junction of your hairline so the scar is hidden in the transition zone. A coronal brow lift incision is hidden within your hair further back on your head. 
A subcutaneous brow lift can be done for any of these incisions - this term refers to the depth. The browlift could be done deeper as well. This would be a sub galeal lift or a subperiosteal lift. 
Before you decide on the technique or incision, I would discuss the pros and cons with a few surgeons. The technical precision of the surgeon and their ability to explain which approach is best for you should be key. The pretrichial approach is excellent and can be done with excellent/invisible scarring.

A full set of photos are required to make a determination about even being a candidate for a browlift surgical procedure.  If you are a candidate, then placement of the incision will be determined by the pre-existing hairline.

I like to use the incision at the hairline in people who have high foreheads. In this situation the brow lift helps reduce large foreheads at the same time.
