Will a “lip flip” be successful if not injected near the vermillion border?

The idea is that a tiny, precisely injection of botox right at the junction of the red and white lip roll at cupids bow will cause these area to roll out. This is a hyped public relations story that many, many doctors jumped in on. The problem is that this service, if it works at all, only works on a particular type of lip. As near as I can tell, it simply does not work for 99.5+% of lips. Study so called before and after pictures of the lip flip. You will realize there are none. Even the Allure article on the service did not have pictures. Some might call this vaporware, others a fraud. Almost all examples of this "treatment" actually show lips that have been filled with fillers and not treated with botulinum toxin. Avoid gimmicks and try to find providers who to not patronize manipulate you.

Thank you for sharing your question. Unfortunately without knowing exactly where it was injected it is difficult to comment on whether the correct muscle was impact.  Typically the muscle closer to the lip, rather than the nose needs to be treated.  Time will tell once your results mature if any change to your lip is appreciated. 

The Botox lip flip is a very popular procedure in my office.  Unfortunately I can't tell from your description where exactly it was injected.  If you don't have the desired results in two weeks you should return to your treating physician for examination.  You may need a bit of filler as well to have the best look.  Please consult a board certified dermatologist who is an expert in cosmetic injections for the best results.
