Would a sliding genioplasty improve my side profile? I am going to be getting septorhinoplasty in a month because I have a deviated septum and have broken my nose 3 times in sports. Would a sliding genioplasty create a more "defined" jawline? I would be looking to get the surgery done around July, that way my nose has time to heal first.
Answer: Sliding genioplasty Thank you for posting excellent pictures. Based on those you appear to be an excellent candidate for a sliding genial plasty or a chin augmentation using a solid silicone implant. This procedure can be done at the same time as the septorhinoplasty or at a separate time. When making facial assessments we look at the whole face as one unit. When doing so especially from the profile the chin and nose have substantial Impact on each other. And weak chin with a large nose are ideally treated for aSymbiotic outcome. In other words the rhinoplasty will make that shit look better in the chin augmentation will make the nose look better together. In other words these procedures are synergistic.Talk to your plastic surgeon about his or her thoughts of gin augmentation. There’s no straightforward answer to if it’s lighting genioplasty is better or worse than a chin implant. Both procedures have advantages and disadvantages. Surgeons may be biased towards one or the other based on their training. For example oral surgeons are probably more likely to recommend a sliding genioplasty.if you’re not sure then put on the brakes to slow down the tree in a bit. There’s no hurry about this. Do you have a lifetime to think about it.The bottom line is you are a great candidate for this and both procedures will complement each other very nicely. If well done you should be very pleased with the outcome.Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
