Can you still get a chin implant screwed in awake/under local?

I have read conflicting things about screws but would feel more comfortable with it screwed in but wondering if that can be done under numbing or if screws have to be under general anesthesia?

Chin implants can be comfortably placed in the office with local anesthesia. In my practice, we use mini-screw fixation for all of our facial implants.

Hi and thank you for your question,It is possible to be done under local.  It will require a bit more time, and a bit more local, but can be done with relative ease.  I would say, however, make sure you discuss this with your surgeon and find a plan were both you and the surgeon are comfortable.  This will ensure you get the best result.I hope this helps,John Frederick, MD
