6 days post Hyaluronidase to dissolve Juvederm Ultra XC Plus, when will I see the effects?

Question

Hey, i had Hyaluronidase six days ago to dissolve Juvederm Ultra xc plus . My phitrum and upper lipline are totally overfilled, so far I don't have any effect?!! Is that normal that the first try with Hyaluronidase may not work ? I'm so sad I can't stop crying . I only have a little bruising left on the spots where the Hyaluronidase was injected .. please help

It can sometimes take a series of hyaluronidase to dissolve filler. Keep in mind, there may also be some swelling from the injections, which will resolve in 1-2 weeks. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

The hyaluronidase works very quickly so within an hour the filler will be gone. Because of its structure, Juvederm can be tough to dissolve.  It often takes more than one injection with higher doses of hyaluronidase to dissolve it.  So return to your doctor for more.

Thanks for the question and sorry that you are having the concerns that you are having.  Swelling and redness can occur for two weeks after lip injections – you should have been told this by your provider.  Hyaluronidase works within 24 hours and sometimes multiple sessions are needed – the provider should have also told you that.  It seems that you may need to find a new doc to take care of everything at this time.

I'm sorry to hear that you were not happy with the results of your Juvederm treatment.  Hyaluronidase should start to break down your filler immediately, and continues to work for up to 24 hours after injection.  There can be some mild swelling as a result of the injections themselves, which can last for up to 1 week after treatment.  Also, at times it can take a series hyaluronidase injection sessions to fully break down unwanted filler.
I would recommend discussing your concerns with an experienced cosmetic dermatologist or plastic surgeon.  Best of luck!

The effects of hyaluronidase can typically be seen almost immediately however depending on the amount of filler trying to be dissolved may require more than one treatment. The use of Hyaluronidase will normally show its effects within approximately one week however, in most patients it may be necessary to wait as long as two weeks. Again, you should also remember that multiple treatments may be required for optimal results.

Hyaluronidase can work within a few hours so if you haven't seen a result at 6 days, you most likely need more.  You should contact your surgeon to let him or her know what happened and then make arrangements to have at least one more dose, and maybe more than that.  You also may want to seek additional opinions.  I hope that this helps and good luck, Dr. Alan Engler, Member of #RealSelf500
