Healing from rhinoplasty takes weeks to months and in some cases up to a year or more. The swelling, firmness, and fullness at 2 weeks post op is normal. Gradually over the next several months the underlying shape and contours will become more defined as the swelling subsides. Give it time and you should enjoy a nice result.
Yoro,What you are experiencing is normal. After rhinoplasty there is excessive swelling which can sometimes create the appearance of a bump. The final results of your surgery will not be evident until 12 months post op. I advise you to see your doctor if your concerns precede.Hope this helps.Dr. Ali Sajjadian
It is definitely normal to have bumps in various places 2 weeks after rhinoplasty. Certain areas of the nose may decrease their swelling quicker than others which results in some asymmetry. Also the length of the nose usually decreases a bit as the nose settles, so that should improve as well. It is important to discuss your concerns with your surgeon so he or she can examine you and give an opinion.
2 weeks is still very soon after surgery, and you have some healing to go. In general, it can take 18-24 months to see the final result of rhinoplasty. Swelling after rhinoplasty can result in asymmetry and irregularities, and I would give it some time before assessing the final result. The nose is 70% healed after the first 3 months and the remainder goes down over time. Your surgeon should be able to answer any questions, as he/she knows the details of your procedure. I hope this helps, and I wish you the best of luck with the remainder of your recovery.
Swelling after rhinoplasty, especially swelling of the dorsum and tip, can take a year or longer to diminish. Over time, the natural healing process will create scar tissue that will contract and de-project the tip. Most irregularities and "bumps" will resolve on their own. In the unlikely event these issues do not improve on their own your surgeon will be able to discuss the options for treatment with you. This is why long term follow up after rhinoplasty is essential. Many rhinoplasty surgeons follow-up with their rhinoplasty patients for at least one year after surgery.
Unfortunately, it is far too early to determine how your nose will look when healing is complete. Swelling can last for several months following rhinoplasty. I advise my patients to be patient and allow the nose to heal for several months before becoming concerned. Best of luck as you continue to heal.Mark Petroff, MD
AND again ONLY 2 WEEKS!!! SWELLING SWELLING SWELLING... Plus in the posted photos I do NOT see the 'hump' you mention... Allow 3 months healing please....////
At two weeks post rhinoplasty the nose is very swollen. It will take 6 months to a year for the swelling to go down completely. Best of luck to be patient.
Do not be too concerned with the way your nose looks right now. Two months is still early in your healing process and there is still swelling in your nose. This can persist for up to 1 year and results will continue to change. Be patient.Hope this helpsDr. Ali Sajjadian
Rachel.b,Under-eye bruising is very common after rhinoplasty and can persist for months after the surgery depending on the patient. Complete healing time for rhinoplasty patients is 1 year. I do believe your bruising will go down with time and to quicken the process I would avoid any blood...
Chris1993,It is customary for surgeons to collect the payment prior to surgery, but this is not to cheat you in any way. It is actually for your benefit, so everything is paid and prepared for beforehand, including the surgery equipment, garments, nurses and any other assistance that might be...
Eaz81,I do see the concerns which you are mentioning. However, 12 weeks post op is still early and there is still a significant amount of swelling in the area. Healing time for a rhinoplasty ranges up to 1 year, meaning the swelling in your nose will not completely subside for another 7...
After 2 months, you should be fully healed. Check with your surgeon to be sure there are no issues with your healing and then any treatment which resolves the issue should be OK.
The timing of a rhinoplasty procedure is an important detail, and one that is completely up to you. There is no benefit to having it done over winter break versus after you graduate high school, and just comes down to your personal preference. After 2 weeks, you would be ready to return to...
