Trauma to revision rhino 3 weeks post op - Can lateral osteotomy ONLY be performed a third time?

Question

I’m 8 months post revision rhino op. At 3 weeks post op, suffered blunt trauma to tip of nose. Swelling followed, now there is sensation and pain in nose for past 6 months. Also the sides of nose are fatter. Can lateral osteotomy ONLY be performed a third time with little to no complications for natural results? Please straightforward answers only. I am in pain.

With the help of a well trained plastic surgeon expert in revision surgeries, it is possible, in general. I’ve personally performed lots of those revisions on patients who had had several rhinoplasties done before me.

Hello! It can be risky to continue to perform osteotomies but not completely contraindicated. It can destabilize the bone and cartilage leading to problems seen especially on profile if not done carefully. Many times, camouflage grafts placed on top help to create better symmetry and decrease the risk of creating instability. If there's swelling from the injury, steroid injections and taping may be worthwhile, first. Hope this helps.
