Can I get a full Tummy Tuck without diastasis repair?

Yes, it is absolutely possible to have an abdominoplasty/tummy
tuck without a diastasis repair.In
fact, sometimes I do not do a diastasis repair in the unusual situation where
someone has little- to- no fascial laxity.Best of luck.

Thank you for your question. Theoretically,it is certainly possible to eliminate that portion of the operation. It is important for you to understand that that portion of the procedure is critical in providing an excellent long-standing surgical outcome. Your downtime can be minimized by using the lateral tension technique as well as long-standing anesthetic called Exparel 

Almost all tummy tucks require muscle repair to achieve the best results. A consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon would go far to explaining the different expectations. You may have with or without muscle repair. With muscle repair,  you should be able to return to desk work at home after a week. Most patients can return to a more vigorous job even by two weeks.

Thanks for your inquiry.  I do rectus muscle plication for the majority of my tummy tuck patients but it's not always required.  Your plastic surgeon would be able to tell if you have a rectus diastasis, and if a repair is absolutely needed.

I agree with the other posts. If you know you have rectus diastasis then why would you cheat yourself of the muscle tightening portion of the procedure. I feel you'd regret it. But yes, you COULD have a skin only TT. I use Exparel as well and used On-Q pain pumps before. BOTH really have helped decrease post -op pain. Best of luck to you. 

I hear your question quite a bit and sometimes not doing any muscle work makes sense...ie. the patient has great muscle tone already and no diastasis. Unfortunately, if you need the muscle tightened, you do yourself a disservice by not having it done. Its going to make a noticeable difference in your result and I'm sure you can find child care help if you look hard enough....Good luck.

A "Tummy Tuck" is a procedure primarily consisting of tightening of the loose abdominal wall caused by pregnancies or massive weight loss.  If the abdominal wall is tight, then a full tummy tuck is usually unnecessary.This type of question is best asked of a board certified Plastic Surgeon during your consultation.  A variety of different body contouring procedures, including a variety of tummy tuck procedures, are available to correct problem areas of the body, and these are typically customized for each patient. 

Repairing the Diastasis is essential to achieve an aesthetically pleasing contour in a full tummy tuck. I would not recommend you do a skin only TT.Ask your PS if a Mini TT would help you, if it does then you have your answer.
