I had slimlipo in 3/2018. At the follow up, my PS was out of office. His partner examined me, noticed “blobs” of fat left behind, and suggested revision. A revision was done in July but too much fat was removed above my knee. In Nov., my PS did fat grafting to fill the indentation but the results are horrible. What options are left? Can this be fixed? My legs look awful. Might any of the fat be reabsorbed to even the area out? What can I do at home? Massage? Fascia Blaster? I am devastated.

Answer: Undesirable results from inner thigh liposuction inner thigh liposuction has probably the lowest overall patient satisfaction of any liposuction area or possibly any plastic surgery procedure. When done correctly patience at best say it's better than it was but rarely if ever leave stellar reviews online. It's an area that is technically challenging and undesirable results are not too uncommon. In your case too much fat was taken out and it was done in an uneven fashion. This is very difficult to correct if it all possible. Fat transfer as an option but unfortunately most of the fad tends to not survive because there is a lack of host tissue to support the grafts. A thigh lift or skin tightening procedure can sometimes help. This however is also not a greater procedure and while it tightens the skin it does not fix the underlying problem of there being an uneven fat layer that is now insufficient in comparison to the rest of your thigh. You cannot change your own fat distribution so there are no home treatments that can make this better. The common term for this is botched. I'm sorry to be blunt but it is unfortunate that this provider did this treatment. Hopefully he or she will have learned and will be reluctant to let greed get in the way of doing the right thing. Best, Mats Hagstrom M.D.

Answer: Liposuction Revision Dear Hester, Hello and thank you for your excellent question. Based on your photos, yes, you are a candidate for a liposuction revision. You may want to look into a combination of non-surgical, minimally invasive techniques including liposuction, laser, radiofrequency (RF), and acoustic therapy to produce the best balance of fat reduction, skin tightening and smoothing for your body type and anatomy. Your case is not simple. It is best to answer your question during a face-to-face evaluation, when you can discuss your goals and expectations for the procedure, and you can have a physical examination to evaluate you. Good luck! Best, Jon Ver Halen, MD FACS
