I had liposuction done and I ended up having an indented scar. During my follow up appointment the doctor used a needle to release the scar from whatever was pulling it down. The scar is now risen but there is still a dent around the scar. When I push down on it I can feel a hardened lump. What is this? Can this be fixed?

Answer: Treatment for indented scars--Vascular laser, fractional lasers, microneedling, PRP, silicone based scar gels This can be improved with a combination of surgery and/or lasers and microneedling/prp. Below is a more detailed reference list of the treatments available. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a scarring expert to determine which is best for your specific case. Best, Dr. Emer 1. vascular lasers (yellow laser, vbeam, excel v) 2. fractional lasers (fraxel, erbium, co2) 3. microneedling/PRP 4. silicone based scar gels with growth factors 5. excision/revision surgery see an expert.

Answer: Scar Dear Calliestar,I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment it would be difficult to determine what is wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment. Only after thorough examination you can get proper recommendations and advice.Daniel Barrett, MD Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
