Hi, I'm a 25 year old female with a hereditary high hairline. I haven't experienced any hair loss. My hairline has always been this way. From what I have researched, I would like to advance the top of the hairline around 2 cm by incision and then get some FUE hair transplants to round out the hairline at the temples, make it more feminine, and cover any scarring. I've drawn a line to show approximately where I'd like to advance the hairline too. Does this sound reasonable or achievable?

Answer: Hairline lowering What you drew is very reasonable with hairline lowering alone if you go to the right person. There are certain techniques that allow the hairline to be rounded off and lowered at the same time. Downtime afterwards is pretty minimal, but you will have a row of stitches in the hairline for a week. After they come out it can be pink for several months, but you will be able to cover it up with makeup. If the incision is made correctly hairs will start to grow through the incision over time making it virtually invisible. Best of luck to you, Sarah Saxon, MD

Answer: Hairline lowering or transplant To assess the chances of success for a hairline lowering procedure, you need an in-person consultation where the surgeon assesses the laxity of your scalp as compared to the desired hairline. Transplants can do it as well, and with your contrast may require a second procedure to get to your density goals. Either one may require a touch up, in my experience, ut sice the transplant is such an easy procedure overall, most patients are happy to have it.Good luck!
