Anguloplasty or fillers give the best results? (Photo)

Question

Is an anguloplasty a procedure that not all plastic surgeons do? Is there any reason it would be a controversial procedure? I'm 39, and my entire adult life, I've looked pissed off. Lol. I'm The absolute opposite! What's the most effective way for me to get rid of this sad face?

The downturned corner of the mouth is not significantly improved by a facelift or any later pull of the facial tissues. It may get some mild temporary improvement but it will not be sustained as the tissues relax. Injectable fillers produce some lifting effect on the corner of the mouth but never complete correction in really downturned corners like yours and whatever the effect gained will eventually be lost as the filler is absorbed. The direct approach to the corner of the mouth works best because it treats the actual problem, malposition of the mouth corners and directly repositions them. It does result in a small fine line scar but that can be minimized by a surgeon who is familiar with doing the procedure.

Lift of the cor5ner of the mouth is achieved with a good facelift.An anguloplasty to lift the angle of the mouth leaves a scar on the lip because it involves the removal of a triangle of lip corner skin to elevate. These scars can be very unpredictable, though in theory can be hidden with makeup in women. Scars is the main reason the plastic surgeons do not like these external lip procedures
