I had an open rhinoplasty in July of 2018 to fix the column and shave the bump down from the side. The bump on the right side of my nose is still there and honestly looks like he never shaved it down during surgery. My doctor suggested rasping once I have hit the one year mark. Do you think this is a good idea in this situation? The picture on the right is before my surgery and the left is after.
Answer: Rasping after rhinoplasty Generally speaking, yes, rasping can be done for a small hump such as your picture demonstrates. If part of the hump is cartilage rather than bone, it can be a bit more difficult to rasp, but good sharp rasps are usually able to accomplish this. Depending on the patient and the surgeon's preference, such a procedure can often be done in the office under just local anesthesia (injection of numbing medication) through an endonasal approach (incisions inside the nostrils). I agree with waiting until a patient is a year post-op.All the best,--DCPPearson Facial Plastic Surgery®

Answer: Nasal rasping For a small hump rasping alone will probably be a reasonable option to reduce a small hump on the dorm of the nose.

Answer: Nasal rasping. Do you think this is a good idea in this situation? Revision rhinoplasty is more difficult than a primary rhinoplasty, therefore a full set of facial photographs and an in-person examination going to be required to make a determination about how best to proceed. The dorsal hump that is present in the photographs is composed of both bone and cartilage. Rasping will only work on bone. Once the hump is been removed, osteotomies most likely be required to be placed in the nasal bones to close the open roof created from the hump removal. For more information and many before-and-after rhinoplasty examples, please see the video below
