Leaking fluids from incision line 8 weeks post op. Had infection wound stitched up, 5 days later started leaking.Is this normal?

It can be normal to have a wound of
this nature re-opened. I would consult with your board certified plastic surgeon who performed
the surgery as to the best wound care at this point in time to help get you
through the process. It is imperative that you follow the directions
accordingly and have appropriate follow up care to get you through this hard

Dear Heather,you need to see an infectious disease doctor in your area so he/she can adapt the antibiotics to the potential bacteria infecting the wound. If you have a health insurance, this should be covered. ask your plastic surgeon to refer you, and continue to follow up with both.Hopefully you will be back on your feet fast !good luck,Florence Mussat

Hello.  I'm sorry you are experiencing drainage and infection.  If  you have fears of a returned infection, I would discuss the option of obtaining a culture and sensitivity as well as a gram stain of the fluid to determine if the infection is still lingering.  If it comes back positive, the culture and sensitivity will help determine the type of antibiotic the bacteria would respond to.  Hang in there and make sure to communicate your concerns with your surgeon.  Best of luck!
