A friend and I both had our necks lifted by the same really wonderful surgeon, a few months apart. I just had mine a month ago, and hers was 5 months ago. Since a couple of weeks, she has 2 or 3 horizontal rolls in the front of her neck -- the trachea area. They are each about an inch apart. She has been swimming at the "Y" every day or 2. Can you please comment on the possibilities here and whether or not swimming is a bad thing for her neck?

Answer: Swimming After a Neck Lift
There should be no problem with swimming following a neck lift especially at 4-6 months following the procedure. In the first 10 days following the surgery I do not like patients to turn their heads as would occur with swimming, but there should be no problems moving your neck later. It isn't clear why your friend has developed the rolls that you describe and she should follow up with her surgeon to have this evaluated.

Answer: Postop necklift
Swimming is definitely not a bad thing for her neck. I think its great that she is swimming daily. 5 months postoperatively she should be able to resume all regular activities. I love that you have a great relationship with your surgeon. I highly recommend that she go and visit him/her and express her concerns. Best Wishes.
